From historic floods to augmented reality: MDSPE conference offers valuable education

From the rebirth of an historic city to technologies that will shape cities of the future, the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers’ 2017 Annual Conference will deliver expert insights on a range of engineering topics and the opportunity to earn seven continuing education credits. 

Scheduled for October 5th at the Hilton Garden Inn in White Marsh, the one-day conference will feature a keynote address by Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman on the 500-year flood that devastated downtown Ellicott City and the community’s remarkable recovery in the year since.

Senator Joan Carter Conway, Senator Bryan Simonaire, Delegate Samuel Rosenberg and Delegate Neil Parrott will participate in a panel discussion about better laws and regulations for professional engineering.

Breakout sessions will probe various topics including: Risk Management for Design Build Projects and Teaming Arrangements; An Introduction to Cellular Concrete and Advanced Engineering Foam Technologies; Laser Scanning, Drones and Augmented Reality; GIS Technology Innovations for Smart Cities; Effective Design Reviews and ProjNet Suite; Cogeneration; Building Acoustics; Cyber Liability; and Leadership for Success.
